Put God
before scrolling.

So instead of scrolling, what if you created a new neural pathway? What if you put something different in your brain that renews your mind?

This is fascinating. I just learned from a young adult here who goes to the Porch, a twenty-something guy. He goes, “Pastor Tim, I know you delete Instagram and you put it back on and keep going.” He goes, “You don’t have to delete anymore. You’ve got to download this app.” And he showed me this app on his phone. It’s called Bible Lock.

I was like, “What is this?” He goes, “This helped curb my pointless scrolling.” He goes, “Every time I go to open my social channels, Instagram, TikTok…” Bible Lock actually first stops him, makes him pause, and he has to do five minutes of reading Scripture before he can access his screen again.

I love that, right? That’s so cool. A twenty-something-year-old did this.

He said, “It’s been a game changer for me because instead of falling down the rabbit hole of comparison, it redirects my mind to God’s Word. Instead of starting my morning, because I get my phone, with the world’s voices, Bible Lock helps me start with the voice of God, with Scripture. I’m not conforming to the pattern of this world. I’m being transformed by the renewing of my mind.”

Isn’t that good? That’s battling back against mental strongholds in your life.
